Why do I no longer have access to Eloqua?

The WSB web team has a policy of automatically removing users who have gone a year or longer without logging in. If you would like to regain access, please fill out the Data Compliance Form again.
If you are unable to log in for a different reason, please review the login instructions, then reach out to the UW Marketing Automation team at marketingautomation@wisc.edu (the UW-Madison wide Eloqua team) for assistance.

Why didn't I get this email?

If you were on the contact list but didn't receive it (don't forget to check your Spam filters), most likely you are either Unsubscribed or marked as invalid.

  • Unsubscribed - this can happen if you sent yourself a test email in Eloqua, but forgot to select the "HTML email" option. The default "Email Checker" option clicks all the links in your email...including the unsubscribe button.
    • You may also have just accidentally clicked "unsubscribe"
  • Invalid email - if you sent yourself an email but the "from" email address didn't end in "@explore.wisc.edu", your email will get marked as invalid, and Eloqua will stop sending you emails

To fix this, you can reach out to Mia Bentel at bentel@wisc.edu to reset, or if she's not available, marketingautomation@wisc.edu.

Do contact lists take awhile to finish uploading?

Yes. Large contact lists (5000 or more) can take a few hours to a day to upload to Eloqua.

You will probably see some of your contact list instantly (usually anyone who has already been uploaded to a WSB contact list before) but others take longer.

Why does my contact list have fewer people than expected?

  • If it's just after you uploaded, they may still be loading. See above^
  • If it's after you sent your email, and some of them were excluded, this is probably because your Contacts either have invalid emails, or unsubscribed.
